Eurovox Max 2006 Clone or Not ??? - Techwatch: Satellite TV forums, FTA, Cable, Hardware, & Tech forums

New to these forums, got a Euro-vox Max 2006 came in blue box. Had it for 18 months or so, not much probs till recently with box swithching to stand by and back on again plus green screens.
Have sent for a 'Null modem Cable' thinking of doing a firmware update, as seems that is wot is recomended on these forums.

But am a bit concerned about whether or not by box is a clone or not ??
As I have also read this could brick the box if it is a clone.

Is there any way to identify clone or not ??

Also wot would be the best firmware to use for my 2006 box if it is not a clone ??

Any advise much appreciated,

RE firmware, i am going to use the October one.

your box wont be a clone if its 18 months old as max clones only been about 9-10 months you should be safe using any firmware

also found there is a section called

'EUROVOX CLONES'

on the official irelandeurovox site, for anyone else who may need help checking this also.

just to make sure m8 open your box and compare with the pics
the main obvious difference being the individual wiring of the clones compared to the neat ribbon cable of the originals
also a few differences to the power supply (the circuit board on the right of boxes)
PS make sure you use blue box firmware!!

Cheers Ronster will have a look inside box before i go ahead with firmware update just to be doubly sure I dont wreck box.
