Hi
I just bought a 47" LCD LG TV and a Samsung DVD r149 Recorder but when i connect the dvd Recorder to the TV I am getting horizontal lines on the TV when I watch the TV or use the dvd recorder to play dvds. I don't get any horizontal lines when I use my old Philips DVD Player connected to the TV. What's up, any ideas? Cheers K |

Ok Further info...
I have the the DVD Recorder connected to the TV Via Scart. It's not a Monster or anything special but surely should work. I have moved the DVD recorder as far away from the TV as the lead will go (about 1m). Still giving me lines ????? |

Try isolating the problem by unplugging everything else, removing any aerial connections, and other scart connections.
Now you have only the TV and DVD recoeder connected check if the problem is still there. If it is try a different scart lead, and other scart sockets, I assume your TV has more than 1, and probably your DVD recorder as well. If the lines are still present try your DVD recorder on a different television. If the lines aren't present add your connections one at a time until they appear. |

Unplugged the cable so only the DVDR and the TV connected - still have lines.
Tried a different scart - still have lines. Tried the other scart socket on the TV - still have lines. Put the DVD Recorder on an old CRT TV - NO LINES! Hurrah! But where that does that take me from here? I don't want to use the old CRT 28" - I just bought a 47" LCD! And further to this now at the weekend the TV/DVDR had a bit of a freak out where I turn off the DVDR and the TV didn't then automatically switch back to the cable it just stated flashing the channel number info box you see when you change channel and the then the stereo L+L L+R audio info box. Oh and now the time won't come up when you press the time button on the TV remote control, just a blank black box with no time in it. |

I spoke to LG (TV) earlier and they reckon the TV is Faulty, so I took it back to Currys and changed it (they wanted to ar*e about and get an engineer to come out to look at it but I complained to the Manager and he authorized an exchange straight away - So always complain if you are not getting what you want!)
OK - I'm gonna set it up now and see how we get on. Oh & BTW I also took the DVD Recorder back to Currys to check it on their LG TV with my scart leads and it worked fine, so fingers crossed here goes. |

Hooked up the DVD Recorder to the Tv and held my breath. Played a DVD and NO lines! Phew I thought, that's it all sorted. But short lived was my joy. Plugged in my cable feed to the dvd recorder and low and behold LINES!!! BUGGER!!!! So it is something to do with the way the DVD recorder handles the signal coming in from the cable and then outputs it to the TV. Trying to cross reference everything I have plugged the DVD recorder with the cable feed into my old analogue CRT TV and I get NO lines at all. ?Confused? But here is a BIG BUT! BUT having screwed up the picture when connected to the new TV if I then disconnect the cable feed to the DVD Recorder the picture remains screwed on the TV when playing the DVD. Somehow the TV remains affected even when it is only connected directly to the DVD Recorder via scart! I've done a factory reset on the TV now and when you play a dvd on the dvd recorder the image has returned to being ok. |

I can remember at some point about some 21 pin scarts, ive lost the information at present, some thing like remove one of the inner cables in the scart, may be the black one (earth or ground) not quite sure,as some leads in the scart can give modulation troubles and all sorts, might be worth a try.
