Default What Is The Difference Between Plasma & LCD TV's?

Hi All, Happy New Year! (another excuse to get drunk YAY! lol!)
I have recently been searching through LCD and Plasma TV’s and I am totally confused and lost on what type to get.

I have looked through the pros and cons between the two on the internet, loads of people have been saying that the Panasonic Plasma TV’s do not have a very good sound and need surround sound speakers (is this true?) and they have been getting picture burns, are picture burns very annoying in the way that you have to unplug or turn off the tv every 30mins to get it back to normal?

There are not allot of cons with LCD TV’s that I can think of apart from people saying that you get a better contrast with Plasmas then you do with the LCD TV’s e.g. Lower contrast ratio, not as good rendering deep blacks. When you watch horse racing, car racing or when there is a fast moving film etc on the screen the picture becomes blurred, but with Plasma's it does not happen and on some the sound is not to good.

Which is the best TV to get the LCD one or the Plasma one? I would like a lovely all rounder one for gaming, watching sport, watching dvd’s and listening to music.

To make it easyer for you if you saw a Sony LCD Tv that has a Contrast of: 16,000 and with 1080p would you buy this or would you buy a Panasonic Plasma Screen Tv that has a Contrast of 10,000 and has no 1080p.

Many Thanks For Reading This And Maybe Replying To It.

Yours Sincerely,

TVMadness
