Hi Guys,
I am predominantly a cable viewer but I do also have a SLY dish and setup. I have been curious about purchasing another satellite receiver that would allow me to pick up more channels i.e. movies and ppv’s similar to SLY’s service but in particular the Saturday 3pm kick-offs? Is it really just a matter of replacing with a Technomate and moving the dish? Or would I need to buy a whole setup inc. a motorised dish etc? Interested to know you're comments? Cheers!

Hi Stewie.
Yes you could use your existing sky dish and connect it to a new receiver. However its not really a good solution because, unless you buy a Dreambox or similar you would not get much on the UK sat. If you get all the UK channels you want via your cable system then it is not so much of a problem Unfortunately, footy is spread across several satellites from 13E to 1W and beyond so you would need a motorised system to get the matches you wanted. Some channels may need a larger dish so unless you just want to experiment, you would really be looking at a new motorised dish to go with a new receiver.

Hi, it would work to a limited extent, but you need to motorise to get the best choice. Also the minidish is a bit small, but OK for Hotbird (13e) and Astra1(19.2e), plus a few other satellites. I think there is some football on those two. DigitalAlb shows the premiership matches on 16E, but a minidish is too small and you need to subscribe at about £150 for a year.
So yes it will work, but you are better off getting a 80-100cm dish and motorising it. Robbo

Expect to pay around the £200 mark, for a budget system, dish, motor, TM5400Ci+ receiver etc. There are a couple of trade members:-
http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/#t...ch-classifieds Southern sats were doing the full kit for about that amount, he will price match if you can get it cheaper elsewhere.
