Default Help with DCC please

Hi Dreamers,

can anyone point me in the direction for tutorial on this software. I am trying to upload Satankey bundle and I have got the "Keys" and "Scce" folders unzipped into a temp folder but do not understand how the FTP thing works. As always, any help is appreciated.

Hi Mike, dont bother with DCC. Use an ftp programme like FlashFXP or CuteFTP. All you do is set up the network connection between your PC and your Dreambox and start the ftp programme. The programme will show two windows a bit like windoze explorer. I have the left window showing the PC folders/files and the right window showing the Dreambox folders/files.

In the left window, navigate to the Satan folder and open var. that will show two folders, keys and scce. The two folders are to cover the different emulation types.

In the right window, navigate to /var/keys

In the left window, open the keys folder and highlight all the files. Right click on the highlighted files and select transfer. All the files will be copied over to the Dreambox window and if necessary say ok if any files need to be over-written.

Now do the same with the scce folder.

I hope that is not as clear as mud.

Hi Jim, and a very Happy New Year to you. You are not going to believe this but I've just cracked it !! I spent about 4 hrs today with DCC and with a combination of trying every possible option I got the keybundle and updater into the box, rebooted with baited breath and it works. I now have BBC prime ( how sad is that ! ) I can now look forward to the wife arriving in 4 weeks and sitting down on Sundays to 3hrs of Eastenders repeats while I go to the pub. She is bringing the 7025 with her and I'll update you on how that project turns out with the moveable dish. Once again thanks

jim

Could you please help me. I have everything on my dm500 but don't know if i have the correct emu. Or if i have it in the correct place. I have read your howto. And kinda little lost still. I used mgcam dating 12/30. I used the erase image. then factory image. then maxvar. couldn't get to work. so i redid everything with Gemini img. and now when i restart the dreambox after dcc it to the dreambox all i get is the gemini logo on the tv screen.

The sequence is:

Install the Gemini 4.2 maxvar image.
Flash erase to delete all settings and rogue code.
Install location, timezone and satellite settings.
Install emu(s)
Install keys.

Mgcmd keys go into /var/scce

Did you install the Mgcamd emu direct from the internet to the Dreambox? If so it should all be installed. If not dod you use a .tar.gz file via /tmp again it should all be installed ok?
If you just ftp'd the mgcmd file to /var/bin did you change the attributes to 755 and also did you install the mgcmd.sh file to /var/scripts and 755 it?

If the image is sticking on the Gemini logo then I think you have missed the flash erase.

To select the emu, you use the blue button and select mgcamd.

i didnot install from internet. i get the files from my work and take them home. Would it be easier to hook up to internet and download the emu that way? if so i might try bringing it to work and doing it.when dcc asked me to do a flash erase i said no. Should i dio a flash erase after each image.does the dreambox able to scan sattelites for channels? when i first used dreambox 2 years ago it didn't scan real well. where can i get the key file?

You can install files from the PC ok but you need to have the complete file set including the startup files for each emu.

The Dreambox does scan all the satellites ok. Just follow the menu>setup>expert setup etc route.

If you're Dreambox is connected to the internet it is only a matter of button pushes to download all the files direct.

If you are going to take the box into work check with your IT guys or supervisor first - some places really dont like non work equipment being hung onto their network!

If you have broadband at home buy a cheap router - it makes things MUCH easier!
