Default Eurovox Query with Virgin Tv

Hi guys

Im considering in buying either a eurovox max v 07/08 version or a starview 2 max dbox 2 but i have a query before spending between £85 - £120.00 on the box .

firstly could you please tell me which box is better for my setup as im new to this and also my query is below thanks.

We had ntl/virgin tv installed along time ago and no longer use the service as we currently have freeview,is it possible to install a eurovox with the ntl/virgin connection without being detected by virgin themselves even though we dont pay for virgin tv..??

any feedback would be greatly appreciated thanks.

The only person who can answer that one would be a Virgin engineer, who knows what equipment they have that could allow them to look down their feed and know if anything is attached ? I believe that they might be able to if needed ...I know for a fact that BT can look down their lines and tell if equipment is attached ....if you dont have a subscription with Virgin its a chance you take .........

thanks i think i would be wise to subscribe to virgin tv as it will be cheaper than the full package by using the eurovox.

cheers for the advice.

As far as I know Eurovox boxes dont "talk back" to the provider specifically, but any box on the line creates noise or interference which can be picked up. Providers can use this to determine if there are lots of EXTRA boxes in a particular location. I expect that they could detect oneor two EXTRA boxes on your particular feed if they really wanted to, probably by testing the noise at the green box. I think that replacing your official box with your new box (and keeping your subscription) is the best way to connect if you are concerned. One of the pro's on here can probably confirm (or rubbish) this.
