6th January is Christmas, according to the Julian calender, which is followed by the Eastern Orthodox Church.
This means that the Armenian,Russian,Ukranian communities, will be celebrating Christmas, this Sunday. Post up any relevant channels showing celebrations, please. Armenia 1 on Hotbird: 12577.00 H 27500 3/4 Note:The programme listings may not be correct,as the Armenia 1 website, doesn't seem to be up to date,as it doesn't appear to have updated to 2008. Will be showing Christmas Mass at 7.30AM(GMT) Gala concert at 11.20AM(GMT) Christmas meetings at 11.10PM(GMT) |

I know Decorations have to come down on the 6th, but I think I'll leave them up to the 7th in tribute to the Eastern Orthodox Christmas.

Think we will find that these broadcasts could be quite impressive. There is a funny but story of a clergyman in his prayers giving thanks for the Easter Orthodox Church - they don't have organists !! Stories of clergy and organists disagreeing are legendary - but thankfully, not in my case.

Thanks for the info. I caught the morning one on Armenia 1 but made a mistake with the time, so at 7.30 a.m. BST it looked as if it had been going for an hour already. Then I noticed that they were GMT + 4, but it was interesting to see, just the same, so I'll try tonight at 7.30 on Adjara 11411H 27500. As to my previous comments about no organists, there WAS an organist playing this morning - this is unusual and must be a recent concession, as normally all their singing is unaccompanied.
