pace 2000 box help

hello techwatch , the problem is i have a pace 2000 box which is modded and was working fine ,and getting all channels but nearly now a year ago i turned it on one day and it stopped working , but i have now decided to try and fix it myself if you lot can help me . i turned it on recently about a day ago to see what the problem is still and it came on , and said ntl is updating your set top box , so i left it and after it was done it came up with a virgin media screen and the box only shows most freeview channels like bbc 1 , bbc 2 ,itv etc. and says and a little window comes up saying that my smartcard isnt inserted properly . what will i need to do to fix the box or card to get it up and running again , and get all channels again for free ?

You just need to re- programme the card, the problem is you need the box key , is it written anywhere under or inside the box ?, 16 digit code numbers and letters.

ok thanks red diesel so what equipment will i need , just a infinity usb programmer and a new funcard or ?

2000s are not the easiest to do unless you already have bk, you can get bk from card, if its a funcard you only need to update the flash, if its a mosc you have to read it not quite so easy. there is another way with a volt meter not easy either.
you need a programmer with phoenix mode for a mosc (modified ordinary smart card).
Have you got bk ? what card is it ?.

ok reddiesel , the card inside my 2000 is a ntl smartcard that is what it says on it , will it already have the bk on there or will i be better off buying a funcard ? i will need to buy a infinity usb programmer as well wont i ? thanks for the fast replys mate

your card will have to be read in nagra edit, plus also opened....

but here is the unlucky bit if your box has been of stream since 21 of nov 2006, they now send a killeer emm, which invalidates the atr on the card, but you never knopw you might be lucky

spikebaby thanks for replying mate but im wondering if you can tell me straight forwardly because im new to all this what equipment i will need , like will i need a usb infinity programmer ? and will i be better buying a new funcard or just repair the ntl smartcard that is in the box at the moment ?

wait till you get your infinity mate .also the 2100 will be easier to mod

yh i no spike , but i wanna try and fix my pace 2000 because it was working fine before i was getting all channels , and where im new i dont no how to jtag a samsung 2100 and how to get a bk is it easy ?

i have the same problem aswell i do have the bk and IRD written underneath the box how can i re programme ?
