You're talking about 2 different things here. The infinite firmware is vulnerable to an attack that writes loads of junk to the modem stopping it responding. This is considered to be bricked and definitely needs a TSOP lift to fix.

The original 250 firmware is being updated by VM, the updated firmware has closed the open bootloader where on startup you could press P in hyperterminal to access boot commands including updating the firmware. The modem works fine with the updated firmware, it is not bricked, but you can't change anything. It is my understanding that this also needs a TSOP lift to return to an open bootloader, I've not had one to try.

AIUI, you use the soft JTAG to restore the bootloader to a modem that has had Infinite Firmware on it that has not been bricked so you can restore the original firmware to the modem.

cheers lincsat, so basically youre right in one way and im right in one way then slacky, When modem updates its not bricked as i said but it does need the tsop lifting and cannot be soft jtagged. so you was right about it not being bricked but your wrong saying that you can soft jtag it to fix it.

P.S slacky you was already told this on hackable i see too. if your the same person that is.

I'm not 100% sure about them needing a TSOP lift to replace the bootloader on the new VM firmware, I've never seen it. It's what I've read on other forums.
