Yeah your right, not seeming to ring an 0800 properly (and 0800 numbers are still free on VoIP)

However the Sky box does say "Telephone Connected" in System Test.

Oh well hopefully I'll be able to have PAYTV in main room and FreeSat in the other rooms.

The speech compression system seems to scramble the signal.

Kind Regards.

The problem is with VoIP, it's great for voice, but doesn't like data or FAX. If you can find a setup that supports FAX, you may be OK for the Modem in Sky boxes.

The only setup I've found that supports FAX is Voip.co.uk using a Fritz.Box

The Linkys does have a FAX option but dont know about the provider... I wouldn't know how to get it to go though the fax

You can choose codecs I am gavering each codec has a different compression.

My Linksys does have FAX options and my Voip company does offer INCOMMING fax numbers so I gather they support Fax.

Kind Regards.

It depends on the hardware, some claims to have FAX pass-through, but works with varying success. I've tried various hardware/provider combinations - even the Linksys PAP2 didn't work for me.

You could just get a couple of Dreambox 500s which would allow you to share the one card over the 2 rooms.

You can get Clones of the Dreambox 500 for around £80. You will still need to take your Sky Digibox though to update the card once a month as the Dreambox has varied sucess at updating the Sky NDS card

I only have the one Sky Card which i share between two rooms between my Dreambox 7020 and Technomat TM9100. It would work exactly the same with the 2 Dreambox 500s. You could also subscribe to Canal Digitaal and share the card between both receivers

Canal Digitaal is quite good with a lot of English programs and films being shown if you set the audio defult on your receiver to english
