what does it say when you put it on a premium channel eg slysports 1....scrambled

did you clear all data and do a factory reset before you scanned?

hi sorry the software on it at the moment is the same as when it came out of the box all premium channels are scrambled . i have been trying to put the latests software on it but not having much joy with the usb to rs232 cable

do you think if i took it to work and used the rs232 to rs232 cable do you think the software would download ok?

you shouldnt have any problems on a desktop pc with a dedicated com port

is your cable a rs232 or a null modem cable,apparently theres a difference
have you got a link to the cable you've purchased

the null modem cables ok and should work no prob but the usb-rs232 dosnt say its vista compatable,does it say theres any problems in device manager

no cd ! installs ok works ok but i have to plug the cables together to get them to connected as when i bought the usb one i did not notice it was a male connector so i have to pug the usb port in and conect to the null modem cable then into the arnet

thats what you have to do with usb to null modem thats what they are all like,only other thing i can suggest is try assigning it to i different com port

if still no luck take it to work and try it on a dedicated rs232 port and it will work first timeeven most new desktops dont come with a rs232 port no more.
i hate these converter cables i scrapped mine and bought a pci card for my desktop and never had no problems
