I think I'm going to throw caution to the wind and get one as soon as I possibly can. You just can't wait this long without getting a little impatient.

Agreed. I'm right behind you. We could all be run over by a bus tomorrow. A very big bus. It's still a cheap hobby I reckon. I just want to see a few happy users before I lay out my dosh is all.

well if you read the flyer on the DM website you will know dude.

Basically you can connect to servers to download plugins for the box instead of putting them on manually, you can do loads of things like download pictures, weather stats, cams, config files, games etc........listen who the heck doesn't have an internet connection in this day and age? lol

My advice would be to get an internet connection, even if it isn't a fast speed one like a 1mb, just something to get you going

(Edit: This is a reply to an earlier post that I seem to have lost sight of! Anyway, it was about the 8000's use of a DVI instead of HDMI output.)

DVI to HDMI won't affect the the picture quality, but it won't carry digital audio - you'd have to get the audio into your TV via another method (but if you're into HD, you may well be after the best audio quality, too, by using the S/PDIF output to your 5.1 amp anyway). There is also a question about the HDCP 'handshake' - others may know more about this than I do.

The current word is 23 March, apparently (according to a poster on another forum). The promo image at Dream-Multimedia (for both the DM8000 and the more diminutive DM800) is certainly becoming clearer (it was initially completely out of focus) as the release date nears.
