Hello,

Thanks for the answere.

Tried everything to get the serial port of the receiver working, but nothing. I decided to make a Jtag, and tried to download a bootloader via Jtag, but also nothing. I used the programs you are refering too (downloaded yesterday from sat-ulc site). It seems like I have no communication. If I run probe.bat, then I get a lot of information that makes no sense, because the result on the computer screen with receiver powered on or off is the same. So my conclusion is: No communication.
The driver you have to install is running properly.
Do you think it is the cable length? Cable length is now +-1m.
Or my PC operation system: Windows2000?
What operation software do you use on your PC? XP?
Am I correct if I say that the massa of the connector is at the right side of the connector (To me it seems logical, because this pin is connected to a larger copper surface, the other pins are all going to a resistor on the receiver board)?
Now it is to late for me, tomorow I will measuring with a scope on the parallel port, to see if something happens there.

Do you mean the Jtag cable is 1 metre long? That is far too long. Try to keep it down to 15cm, otherwise there is a great risk of signal loss and interference unless you are using individually shielded wires.

By massa do you mean ground/earth? Ground is pin 6 on the Jtag connector. It is not possible to say which side of the receiver it is because the pins may face different ways depending on the exact circuit board layout. Pin 1 should be marked with a very small white number next to it.

I used XP but there is no reason that I know why it wouldn't also work with Windows 2000.

Finally, did you remember to change the JP1 jumper to pins 1&2 for the Jtag operation (often called putting the receiver in Debug Mode), and back to 2&3 for testing the serial port?

Hello,

This morning I checked the LPT with my scope, this port was working fine, so the problem had nothing to do with the PC.
Then I decided to shorten the cable to about 30cm and yesss!! It was working. Now the receiver is again working fine.
Do you know what software 1.2.82 I can download into the receiver without destroing it?

Thanks a lot in advance.

On sat-ulc database you can find a file called Truman_EMU_1.3.82_sl65_fixed, posted in the last few days. I think I read someone has loaded that OK.

I downloaded the version 1.3.82 fixed and flashed it, now it is working.
Thanks.
What is strange that only once I had on my screen after starting to press 9339 next message:
"F1: Store image to flash" or something like this. Anyone knows what this is? I pressed EXIT because I did not now what it should do.

Another thing I mentioned is that after changing mediaguard keys, and EXITING this key edit screen, going back to normal television mode, the image goes blank. The only way to get out of this situation is powering off the receiver. Ok in most circumstances a small problem because the receiver is near the TV, but in my case I have to go under the roof (a bit unconvenient). Is there a known solution for that?

Anyway thanks for the assistance.

Never had that with 9339. Are you sure your finger didn't slip and hit one of the other keys? The key above 3 pauses the picture I think, then you can press the F1 key (labelled Audio) to burn it to flash and use as bootup logo. Something like that ...

I have never used Mediaguard keys - I didn't know anything can be unscrambled with those?

Well If you say about the picture to save, then I think the explanation will be that I pushed another button while entering 9339.

What I try to unscramble is C*A*NA*L + N*L. According to the site from lyngsat it is scrambled with mediaguard, but untill now I never succeeded. Sometimes after entering a recent key the screen becomes dark and the message box Encrypted channel doesn't appear anymore, but that's it. If you know something more about it, please let me know.
Another thing is with the version 1.3.82 I think the auto roll function is active. Sometimes I enter a key, leave the screen, check it ->key OK. Leave the screen again, go back to the key entery screen and I see the key has changed. How can I switch the autoroll function off?

Correcting myself: it's the key underneath 9 that pauses and then you have the option to F1 save to flash.

To find out what can be descrambled on Mediaguard I suggest you have a look at a l s a t dot co dot uk. You will have to register to see anything interesting.

Yes, autoroll (AU) is always active - I don't think it can be turned off.

I was also thinking that autoroll is switched on. There is only one difference I mentioned, my previous version was 1.3.79 and the keys I entered never changed automaticaly after I changed them. With 1.3.82 I change a key, go back to television mode, it doesn't descramble anything, then I go to the keys again and see that the key I just modified, allready has been changed automatically to another value (not the old value).
Strange?? After trying several times, finally it is working.

hi guys , i think am too late and dump for your info but please do offer me some help.
i messed up my (sl65 B1 chip and 6 bin serial port) with this this firmware truman1.3.83, the RS232 is dead, no response wa so ever.

i tried to understans the Jtag process but not getting it well.
1) where can i buy the Jtag cable without making one, cos i find it very technical for me. i have few cables though that i have tried, i connected printer port to RS232 and insalled the (inst_giveio) and checked it, it does show up as STARTED and set on Automatic.
but when i run the (flashbootloader) the window disappears quickly. same the flash batch, i dont know what i am doing wrong if i turn off the receiver the bathc window stays on with litel ifnormation, even when i run teh bat. i get the same window as i get when i run the flash.
2) i dont really understand how to go about this line (change the JP1 jumper to pins 1&2 for the Jtag operation ).

i know i am rubbish on this staff but please dont give up on me,
thanks
