Forget about using any sky boxes with cams - they dont work. Buy a cheap fta box - theres plenty of good stuff available. Have a look at some of the boxes on offer from the sponsors.

thanks for quick reply........there are two many fta boxes ...lol

recommendations from the sponsers thanks will check it out...basically i am a newbie to sat, and would also like to know what channels to expect with the cam or does that differ depending on the stb

going for the 1.3m dish with duel lnb for astra and hotbird, would you recommend motorised

like the dreambox 7020, or the 500s

I would recommend motorised but depending on where you are and what you want to receive a smaller dish than a 1.2 etc would suffice.

The cam wont give you any additional channels without a subscription smartcard in it from a pay tv provider.

The card authorises specific channels, the cam is just the interface between the card and a receiver.

If you are in the UK a 1.3m dish is complete overkill for Astra 1 and Hotbird. An fixed 80 cm dish with monobloc lnb is plenty big enough.

Dreamboxes are fine receivers but they can be a handful to say the least and I wouldnt recommend them to a complete novice to the hobby. You would be better off with something like a Technomate. Ive got a couple of them. Easy to use, give good results, nice receivers.

Before you spend any money tell us what you want channels / languages you want to receive and we can make ome recommendations

DONT say "everything" as thats just not possible!
