if its the power supply then check the 1000mf 10v cap. Very common problem on this box. You can tell if its gone faulty if the top is bulging. Also the problem may be down to tsop going corrupt then it will need jtagging. Start with the cap first.

Hi Ste you will have to desolder the capacitor and remove it. If it looks fine then jtag first and see what happens.

I think the cap has blown on mine as well, but when I look at it close up it seems to be a 1000 mircoF @ 6.3V?
Should, or even could I use a different voltage rating eg. 10v or 16v? I have tried my local maplins but they weren't much use as they didn't have any 1000mirco farad caps at all.

Thanks for your posts Mash I was being to give up on this till I stumbled in here.

you will be better off replacing it with a higher voltage 16 v will be fine. Yes the cap is 1000mf but you can also use 2200 mf caps. Maplins should have them but the sales team are not the best. Check there website and note the part number and then to to them.

Brought my box back to life! ordered jtag from tcm on the net (20€), they posted it over to me in dublin within 3day and its seems to have done the trick.
