I was just about to rip off the cables and throw it out the window when a couple of clicks started to do something.
Tried to erase again and said erasing blocks (35) thought it was strange cos there should be 500 odd. Then did a read and that completed ok. Now flashingbootloder. Still waiting. I think after i will do a full flash and wait the full length of time. what ever it takes, probably won't sleep with the sounds of all the fans in the base unit. I |

Larder,
Everything you did is OK. Did you install also the driver for the LPT port? And is the driver working properly? (I mean not only the port should be enabled, but also the driver should run). After installing the driver I had to start-up my PC again before it worked. Are you sure that it is LPT1 you are working with? Are you sure your connector is not plugged in the wrong way on your board? You don't have a scope to measure and see that something happens on the LPT port? Else it is a good check to iliminate the idea that the PC is the problem. Maybe you can check with a multi meter between ground and TCK (With the scope I saw that this is the clock). It is better to run probe.bat from the DOS window, else the dos window opens and closes to fast. If the receiver is not connected, the screen will scroll very fast after waiting 5 seconds. At the end the program waits with: "Init PrAcc ..." At that moment you should measure something between GND and TCK. Good luck |

OK Larder good to hear it is working.
A full load takes a lot of time. I did a full load untill 25% than I stopped it (terminate batch job), switched off my receiver, disconnected it, putted the jumper back, connected it with my serial cable, and started to download via RS232. |

Larder,
In my case the bootflash didn't help me. I will try to describe exactly what I did. Everything I did is in the dos window to see everything that happens on the PC. Here are the steps: 1) Completely erased the memory (erase.bat) to prevent dirt in the memory places. 2)Download bootloader (flashbootloader.bat) 3)Tried to download the rest via RS232, but nothing (You know, switch off power of receiver, place jumper back to original position, disconnect J-tag, connect RS232 cable, start Upgrade.Exe...with a known good firmware.bin file and when it is checking serial port, switch on receiver, but in my case it was nothing. 3)Then I renamed the firmware.bin file to wholeflash.bin. 4)Copy wholeflash.bin into C:jtag (the directory of flaps). 5)Switch off receiver 6)Disconnect RS232 7)Connect JTAG 8)Place jumper on the receiver board to the other position. 9)Switch on Receiver 10) Start wholeflash.bat. 11) I let it run untill 25% (about 2 hours) 12)Then in the dos window I pressed "Control C" 13)In the dos window appears "Terminate batch job Y/N" Answer Yes. 14)Switch off receiver. 15)Disconnect Jtag 16)Place jumper to original position. 17)Connect RS232 18)Run upgrade.exe with known good firmware.bin file. 19)When checking serial port, switch on receiver, be sure it is not in stand-by after switching on. If it is, press once the power on button on the remote control. 20)Thats it. Normally there is no danger to destroi the receiver again, and if by some case it is destroied, you always have the Jtag working, but you have nothing to loose. Picture of jtag attached. I thought other readers might like to see one. I managed to rescue my box by following the excellent post at the top of this forum. Full erase followed by bootloader flash followed by regular rs232. I used an old printer cable which already had the earth connections joined and provided coloured wires. Resistors from Maplin. I couldn't get a 2mm pitch connector so recycled a laptop hard drive connector and removed the end 6 pins for use with jtag. Worked a treat. [SL65/12]. Good Luck to anyone else attempting this. SB.
