just got my thebox from ebay. Got instructions on accessing CAS menu by typing 1570 etc. but nothing happens. Only getting FTA. I'm in D*blin on nt*l.
System Information is:
API ver : 4.54e
Boot ver : 7.0
22. Oct. 2007
Do I need to flash with different firmware? If so, any instructions? Also read that having 7x25 vents on the cover means it may not be an original?

By nothing happens, do you mean you cant get to the menu and turn the emu on, or you turn on emu and nothing happens?

can't get to menu to turn on emu... enter 1570 and no menu appears

Are you doing it from the main menu?

press (menu)
press (1 5 7 0)
OR
go to parental control in receiver menu
press ( i ) + (2 0 0 4)

even though these boxes are delivered with 4.54 loaded it is only a FTA firmware so u need to load with 4.54 that u can download from any sat site ,this enables access to CAS menu

The only thing that is missing is the logo file when shipped so you just need to flash this to the box.
