is there any way of transmitting hd signals to other hd tv's around the house, from the original sky hd box?

I don't believe there's any form of HD videosender. It's possible to send HD over CAT-5 cable and distribute it to multiple TV's - it's expensive and does still neeed wires.

If you just wanted HD on one other TV, you could use the Component outputs for one and the HDMI for the other TV.
