Default Changing Audio PID

On a couple of Premiere channels showing English language films, I notice there is no option to change to English audio, unlike with most of the movie channels. Could that be because the channel's Audio PID is set wrong? Are there different PIDs for each language option? My receiver (SL65 with Yumatu IQ FW) has an option for editing it. What's the best source for the correct data - lyngsat?

Sol

Presumably, because there is no English audio, only German audio.
Which Premiere channels, are you refering to?
Many English language films shown on the Premiere channels,e.g Premiere Film Classics, only have German audio only.
For checking the Audio PIDS,check here

Sorry, Sat-World, I failed to see your reply until now.

The lack of English audio on English language films seems to occur mostly on Pr Nostalgie, Flimclassics or Filmfest. Sometimes there is no audio at all, not even German, which was why I thought the Audio PID may be set wrong.

I found that if the channel is transmitting English audio you can select it using the "Language" button on the remote. It sometimes is described as "English", or "German 2". Having set a channel for English you also find that a following film has no sound at all. In that case, re-select to "German" and the sound comes back, but, of course, in German.

I watched "The Da Vinci Code" some weeks ago on Premiere - the sound was selectable to be in English, but the subtitles over some French dialogue were in German. If it's there, you can usually get it but I don't think it's anything to do with changing the PIDs.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Diapason - I've noticed exactly what you say and am well acquainted with changing languages with the remote. It just puzzled me not to have any sound at all on some channels. When this happens there is just one entry (Deu) in the audio list, but the selection tick is in a row below that where there is no language label, and the tick can't be moved in the usual manner. I have concluded that it's a fault in the EMU (I was using Truman firmware on a Comag), but hoped that changing the audio PID might sort it out.

Hi sol i had the problem with no english on premiere on my tm 1000. I was told a remedy that cured the problem. Dont go through the movie portal. Find the prem direct channel on the channels list, enter it, press language option german 2 nd bingo english. Once youve done this with all the prem direct channels, you can get them using the portal, and in english. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Wasp11, but that didn't work for me. All the Pr Dir€ct channels reset themselves to German Left channel when viewed through the portal, even if changed outside of the portal. I can get English usually on Dir€ct but it doesn't stick - change channels and it's lost. Just one of those little bugs in the EMU.

Hi Mate, The channels that you are having trouble with do not send an English Audio Signal, they only send German audio, so nothing you do will ever get you English on these channels. Sorry but to put it bluntly, you have a snowballs chance in hell of getting English on the channels you mentioned.

If the Audio is set to AC3 then it will not give you any audio on most TVs, so that is another consideration.

Very best regards Wez

Not true, Wez, sorry. I saw (and heard) yesterday that there was a film on Pr*m Nostalgie that had an English soundtrack and also one on Filmfest, so I guess it's a hit and miss thing.

I agree about the AC3 - isn't that Dolby digital or something? No use on my receiver/TV.

Cheers

Hi solunauk,
I have never had the box on those channels when there was English, but please do not think that I am in any way doubting what you say, it is just that i am not into films and it is the sport that I am more interested in, so I don't be on those channels very often.

Thanks for your reply, it will help someone who might have read my mail and thought that there was never any English audio on those channels.

Very best regards Wez
