Never been abroad - that's what happens when you're brought up by a traditional Yorkshire family with holidays to Scarborough and Bridlington, then either too broke or too busy to travel.
![]() Anyway, I'm determined to take the family abroad this year, and one of the hardest decisions is where on earth in this amazing world should we go? There are certainly plenty of amazing places we could visit, but in having young kids, I don;t want the travelling time to be too long, plus I want to get a mixture of culture for the grown-ups, and beaches for the kids. So far my first choice I think is going to be Egypt - spend a few days at Luxor, explore the Temple of Karnak, then nip across to the Red Sea Riveriera for a few more days - Hurghada or Sharm El Sheik come to mind. Anyway, anyone else want to list a place they would most like to visit, and hope to get there someday? |

For a short haul with the family, Egypt is perfect - culture, sea and sand !!! How young are the kids though? Egypt can get very hot and traveling around is not straight forward. Even quicker, try Spain i.e. Barcelona for Culture and only 1-hr by train to Costa Dorado for Universal Studios, sun and beaches etc). Food is good as well.
If Long Haul - Singapore, Malaysia or India. All these countries have plenty of colour and panache. With India you can do the golden triangle and finish off in Goa i.e. sun and sand. Food is excellent and well catered for the Brit stomach. May be a bit pricey for a large family though so just Goa might be fine - plenty of fishing, temples, sample of local life and miles and miles of beach. Book a package and ensure you stay in a 3* plus hotel as this will ensure a pool etc for the kids. Good luck mate !!!

You could take them to central Florida. Loads of attractions to keep you all going and plenty of cheap shopping.
Travel as an independant, book a villa and car hire online - you'll get a great deal. I can recommend these people :- Code:

Cyprus is great for kids, and adults. Roman ruins and and culture, sun sea and sand, or serious clubbing, its all there. Friendly natives and they drive on the left side of the road. Well worth a visit. I was there last july and it was 36c -38c, so quite hot.
