Default HELP: PC & HD player to HDTV... hook up

Scenario 1:
I want to hook up my PC to HDTV using either normal PC VGA (HD-15) or maybe DVI. Ofcourse, both cables do not carry sound. So my problem is, how to get good sound out? I do have a 5.1 amp system. My PC audio spec is: Audio: Six back-panel connectors for line-in, line-out, microphone, rear surround, side surround, two front-panel connectors for headphones/microphone, integrated 7.1 channel sound.

Do I need separate stereo cables for each: rear; side, front sockets?

Scenario 2:
I want to hook up my HD player to HDTV using HDMI. Does HDMI carry sound? My 5.1 amp doesn't have any HDMI inputs, so how can I get my 5.1 sound system working?
