Default Chip Virgin V+ Box

Hi guys,

this is my first post and my first attempt at chipping an ntl box and could do with some advice.

(I'm more used to the satellite side of things as I have my own Technomate motorised satellite system which I maintain and chip myself)

I've currently got a standard chipped ntl: box which is alright and still working... (it was not chipped by me though... it was a friend of a friend job)

but i've just managed to buy a V+ box off a mate who has ended his subscription and I'm looking for some information on how I can chip it myself.

I read one thread I managed to find which only mentioned that it would need an official viewing card with it so that some information can be extracted and changed or something... luckily it still has it in! (it is a Telewest Broadband one, I live in an ntl:/VM area if this makes any difference?)

I have no prior knowledge what so ever to chipping cable boxes but so far, to my understanding I believe I need a funcard (not sure which one? i guess it would be different for V+?) and some sort of USB card reader/ programmer.

Any help and information would be hugely appreciated.

One more thing... once chipped, does the PVR function on the V+ box work? if it doesn't I might aswell stick to my current one!

Cheers guys

You have the basic idea, you can use the original card as you would need an unlooper to unlock it, and a programmer with phoenix mode to read and write it, im not sure about the pvr as i havnt done one yet, but i cant see why it shouldnt still work, its only a hard drive isnt it.

jameze ur only problem could be if he cancelled subs and box was on line they can send a false boxkey to the card, so box is rendered useless, just to warn you, before u shelve out money.

Ah right cheers guys, I'm new to all this so it's a bit difficult to get in to!

I'll see what I can do. I could just pay someone to do it if things seem to be more complicated than I first thought I suppose

would suggest do some reading.lol
wotever you do dont put the card in the box when on stream.
you can only gain info for box from paired card,
so first thing you will have to read card.
will need phoenix mode progger.
but card will probably be locked.
so will need glitcher.
& after all that the card will probably been hit by cc.lol
oh & bye the way hope it's not a subbed box.
never mess with subbed boxes.

the pvr function does work once modded. yes, as stated, if subscription has ended and the box has been onstream at the time, its just going to be a freview pvr.

Simple if you get a v+ just dont plug in full stop untill you have the details if you want to check box works first take out card and dont put back in till have details.
