Hi everyone,
Well I got my dish finally wired round to my kitchen and plugged it all in. Wow loads and loads of channels. Ive started to try and get these into some kind of order using the favourites. Ive got a few questions for you clever guys I know i can't get the sky NDS channels is it worth deleting these off the box? or will they at some point revert to FTA? Can I patch via usb? Is there anyway to get some of the kids/sports channels? I seem to be picking up channels from about 3-4 sats, sorry not at home at the moment so I cant tell you which ones. The dish hasnt been moved from where it was set up by sky for the last owner. Sorry for the loong rambling post and thanks for the answers! My system Sky minidish Technomate 5200+ usb |

CH4 may revert to FTA at some point this year, ch5 may never, no-one knows at the moment. The rest of the NDS channels will probably stay that way. I have deleted all the Sky NDS channels on my system, they are easy to put back if anything changes, Kids channels, yes, Tinypop, pop, pop girls, cbeebies, cbbc and citv, plus any +1s and any I have forgotton. ![]() Sport, Dunno, I hate it, but I don't think so.See my last comment Yes, you can patch from USB, don't ask me how though, as I don't know. Try sticking a USB flash drive in, see what happens, it will be obvious. You are only picking up the sats that are at the nominal 28E orbital position. Although they share frequencies with other satellites, so a scan will still get channels, but they will be the ones from 28E. You need to get a bigger dish mate, and motorise it for much more choice. Not a dumb question at all, but a very easy mistake to make ( and very common
).The two satellites share some of the same transponder frequencies ( well lots of them do) so you will get a good signal quality even if the wrong sat is selected. If you did a scan, you would get the channels from 28E Robbo ![]() |

Right that explains a lot, so I am selecting 19e and it is picking up what it things are 19e tp freqs but in reality are just the 28e identical freq ones!
So taking this a slight step further is it worth me moving my dish to 19e thx |

Premiere on Astra 1G/1H/1L at 19.2°E - LyngSat ![]() But you would lose all the FTA stuff on 28e, You would be better off with a new dish and motor, or just another dish. |

would the current dish pick up 19e?
Im a bit wary of moving it incase I cock it up and lose the channels Ive got at the minute. Could I fit a motor on the existing dish ( for very cheap) and get both sats? How easy is it to move the dish Ive read all of the guides I can find and it dfoesnt look that hard however it looks like its easy once you have the hang of it but hard if you havent! Id probably only want these 2 sats if it was motorised. are there any other options. Thanks for all the help. |

Hi Smoothe, there are plenty more satellites up there and you will be able to clear channels with the new patches.
I would recommend that you keep your existing dish fixed on 28.2E and have a separate motorised dish for the other satellites. That way you can play with one system without upsetting the rest of the household who want to watch while you work. If you also have a cheap Digibox, it will also give you the option to record progs on say BBC whilst watching footy on 19.2E ![]()
