ok will this work connecting my pc (dvi) to my technika hd lcd tv (hdmi) using a dvi to hdmi cable, is it that straight forward

Yes but you may have to play with the PC output settings and you wont get sound from the dvi output so you will need a separate audio cable.

If you are using the TV sound speakers, does the tv have stereo input sockets (red and yellow) normally. If so your pc probably has stereo out so use the twin audio cable.

I dont know the details of the TV but it is unlikely to have a digital sound input. However, if it does then use a digital audio coaxial cable.
