Hotbird 13E is a powerhouse - no problems in the UK even on fairly small dishes. There are assorted fta Russian channels on there including RTR Planata, Russia Today, Vesti, a couple of music services, and a coouple of religious channels.

40E is an odd one, signal levels are fairly poor in the UK apart from Uzbeki TV which is an easy catch with an 80 cm dish. The footprint map suggests strengths should be good, but they just arent. Dunno about the mpeg4 frequency - remlap can see them on his kit and I think hes using a 105cm Gilbertini dish (high quality) if I remember rightly

40e currently have Rossiya TV free to air which is the Russian version of RTR Planata.

13e also has Channel 1 Russia International version too.

40e MPEG-4 is not lockable right now either, either due to weather conditions or higher broadcast signal I was able to get a solid lock for a month or so.

Thank you,Analoguesat! In Latvia 40E Mpeg4 signal is up to 24% maximum on 110cm. dish(Triax). Very bad. Hotbird is good idea for me in UK. I have interesting in Intelsat 12 45° East (Russian TV Time package part time FTA,soon Irdeto2). I hope the signal is good in UK.
Anyway,thank you,remlap, very much!

The Russians on 45E are very strong as well - another easy catch on an 80cm dish.

Thanks,Analoguesat. I will try soon. I have some idea: 53E(Express focus) + 45E(multifeed)- it will be good gift for my russian friend, and for my Britain friend in Lincolnshire -Hotbird or astra19E with russia today (+28E maybe).

5e now has REN TV Estonia which is in Russian to I believe.

And since your Latvian TV 5 is free to air there too, has a few Russian shows subtitled in Latvian.

Russia today is nearly everywhere there is a major broadcast platform these days.

I've installed a few fixed dish systems in the Lincoln area for Russian language Channels, always on Astra1 - apparently there's about 10 Russian language channels, but I'm told that some are from the Ukraine.

I understand that there are also a few FTA on Sirius 4.8E.
