for dwwrt you can use the linux settings or

add drop tcp from any to me 6883 tcpflags rst

*me may require to be your machines IP Address or try the network addy i.e 192.168.1.0

as i have said the commandline will vary per router but at least with this you have access to telnet just try the line as is or the linux version one or the other will work.

If you need this for other protocols then you need multiple entries

For those who seem to be sceptical about whats happening its not down to the tftp file. That will limit your upload download speed within the purchased package range i.e small , med ,large, 4mb,8mb and 20mb as it is now.

Virgin Are using Sandvine as was posted on the NTL website accidently last year now virgin media have taken over they have initiated Traffic Shapping in there context to mean reduced speeds related to the amount of traffic flow this is achieved using SANDVINE Hardware at the ISP'S end in conjunction with the UBR Bridge that connects to the CMTS Head end, Sandvine is capable of deep packet inspection even through Encryption such that only P2P traffic is affected but this down to the ISP's Configuration.

Those who have issues on Comcast will be first to Admit this, your lucky if you can seed at 3-5KB/s .

As i have stated before the way this works is by Using flags within the TCP Packet "http traffic" in this case the Reset (RST) flag what the work around does is stop this flag being implemented by the isp by ignoring the flag.

In the US there has been such an outcry of this hardware that it is the subject of a possible Class Action Suit look at the Sandvine Wikipedia.

If your under the impression that your ISP Doesnt Know What your doing think again!!

How doyou think they achieve that its within the hardware Config file not your MODEM!!

yes its per protocol but all they need to do is put any/all into the TCP Space and it applies to all protocols.

any help would be appreciated.

TIA
Yes but you would need to know what protocol and port they are using. I will investigate my suspicion is that its Still TCP Protocol. most likely its nntp "Network news transfer protocol" port 119 tcp and udp

TCP has error checking capabilities built in whilst UDP doesnt care whether it arrives or not.

EDIT: oh yeh my main comp. is runnnig windows vista home premium (dont know if this is relevent either)
no thats not relevent other than to say the firewall in vista is alot stronger than xp.

therefore it will ask if you wish to allow the change after you have applied it.

sorry but macafee does not allow you access to the tcpflags command which is why you are having the problem and why you need commandline access. unless you have an advanced page that does allow the tcpflags command. you wont be able to do this. If macafee has an fw file you can edit then you can then add that line manually otherwise you are stuck mate.

Ive had a problem with 'Power' coming form the green box, when it drops, it drops to 0 and shouldn't, they have now put me on 8, so when it drops, it shouldn't go below 4, however i have apparantly a 4 meg connection and it is really sluggish.
I run xp home and a D-Link DI-604 router.

Adsl Lines run on a shared basis you have upto 8Mb/s but in reality that could be shared with a number of others on the same line therefore your speed will vary greatly on a day to day hour by hour basis.

The only real broadband that is fairly consistent is cable which is coax to the house but fiber to the ISP headend where multichannel transmissions wont affect the speed much and Satellite which for transmit and recieve is prohibitly expensive.

If you are a BT customer make sure you are not using an AK7 Modem these are known to cause issues like this when connected to BT.

you could try getting BT to test the line but insist that the engineer tests with an AK7 type device or false readings can occur and could then get a callout charge from BT.

This is why BT use Speedtouch Modems !!! for wireless connection.
