VM Download Speed ???

Hey,

I can't tell if my speed is restricted or not because after following what you said technosteve my internet connetion is now limted and I can't acess it I will have to do a full system restore...

VM are such ****heads for doing this, I wondered why my download speeds where dropped in the evenings, cheers for the info. Also is there anyway of blocking it on normal http downloads? since I mostly download from **********, cheers

You know I think you all might be over complicating the problem a little bit. If you set your torrent client to use RC4 encryption on all incoming and outward connections you can mask your p2p use and not trigger the speed cap in the first place. Vuze and Utorrent will let you do this very easily.

(if am i wrong feel free to tell me to STFU)

VM are a bunch of ***** for capping. Will have a play with this and see what happens.

I am running a windows environment with a NTL250 cable modem connected to a WNR834B Netgear wireless cable router.

From what I understand from the above is that if you have a ntl 250 cable modem, the block would be initiated there. If you use this modem, would it be possible to use your suggestions ? I am not sure whether the ntl 250 has a CLI / would be configurable ?

Failing that then, do you know whether it is possible to use a different cable modem with VM that will accept the recommended changes ?

yes but you need to use a modified firmware on the ntl 250 otherwise you cant login using telnet as this is disabled in the firmware. the p option is also disabled with the latest VM firmware and requires a jtag connection to change this firmware.

so the answer on an unmodified ntl 250 is no you cant get into the modem.
