Default Stopped smoking

Hi all you smokers,
I have stopped smoking from saturday 13/ oct 07, around 7pm. I started when i was 12yrs old, and was smoking 40-50 rollups a day, when i stopped aged 55 yrs old. Still get the odd strong urge for a fag, but can handle it now. Used those new tablets , forget the name!!, for two weeks, read a book, the easyway to stop smoking, and bingo stopped. Anyone else in same boat, or wants a wee bit of support, say so here

Wouldn`t mind stopping myself. Smoking for some 20 yrs now. Tried chewing gums patches inhalers etc. The only effect they had on me was to make me think about smoking (whether they are working) and as a result smoking even more than before starting the "therapy" Guess you need a strong will, but for some reason I can`t convince myself that I don`t like smoking because well... I do like smoking.

I failed many times in the past. This time , i said to the wife, when my tobacco is finished thats it.!! I had about 3 months supply left, so at the time, it was an easy thing to say. So when becky was starting run out, i bought a book stop smoking the easy way by alan somebody?? I then went to docters and got those tablets that kill the want for fags. Cant remember the name but it began with Q. So if i can you can.Its not easy, but worth it in the end

I'm very lucky I just stopped. I did this once before and stopped for 2 years then started again then about 3 years ago I stopped again. I suppose I don't get addicted to the nicotine, for all you normal people out there it must be very hard and I wish you all the best.

but i am going to stop this time i decieded to stop drink first this is my second week no drink as i think that the two go hand in hand smoking and drinking. hopefully when the day arrives to stop smoking i can keep off them both.

Thumbs up Re: Stopped smoking

Johny, i know where your at. Pint smoke, coffee smoke, smoke before you do this, or smoke after you do that, its bloody hard, but it gets easier. I still get the urge, but 95% of the time its ok. Keep at it mate

Howdy,

I'm still at 20 a day until I start drinking , then it's back to chain smoking

The problem I have is that I love it.

When I was younger, I stopped for 7 years, when I was training 3 times a week and playing football.

1 week in Tenerrific with 6 of my mates in the one studio (I bunked for nowt) and all of them smoked (other stuff) and I was hooked again.

It started , only when I was drinking but back to what it was like before in a very short time.

I only ever smoked a pipe. I liked the flavour and smell of good tobacco.

My mate used to smoke 60 a day and one evening after work we were drinking in a pub and he was just about to pull out a packet and light up when a tight scot that we worked with came into the pub and asked my m8 if he could have a fag. My m8 said "sorry, I have just given up smoking". He hasn't had a cigarette from that day to this.

That was in 1972. Dont get me wrong lads I don't suggest scots are tight, just that one.
