Default Problems with Ferguson

Hi Folks
I'm having trouble with a Ferguson receiver, and would appreciate help to find out if I've just got a bum unit, or the Ferguson really is as bad as some of the reviews indicate. Certainly it is no match for the Strong I have, which works faultlessly.
I' ve repositioned my dish, renewed the co-ax so that there are no joints anywhere, checked the connections at each end and now get a consistent signal strength of 100% with a quality of 60-70% from Astra 2- but only with the LNB on Wideband. Both the signal strength and quality go back to zero on any other LNB setting. I can only geta very restricted range of channels, with none of the BBC Radio services and only a handful of odd regional BBC and ITV television channels. Some of the shopping and girlie channels come through, but are of no interest to me, I really want the BBC, ITV, news and Horse&Country. Most of the 300+ TV and over 200 radio channels picked up in the search fail to deliver a signal.

My readings from the antenna/receiver set to Astra 2 are:
LNB Wideband
High Frequency 10/50
Low Frequency 9750
LNB Power ON
22KHZ ON
0/12V 0V
Polarity Ver

When I search, the Polarity is Ver and I set the Filter to All and the NIT is OFF.

System settings
TP Index 1/82
Frequency 10/14
TV Mode Auto
Scart output RGB
RF Mode Pal-1
RF Channel 21

Any advice you can give would be much appreciated. Maybe there is a fault in the LNB - it did get knocked - but I suspect the receiver.

I have a very slow dial-up connection from here in rural Ireland, so it would be easiest for me to get emails at email address removed

Thanks for your attention
