What about DVB-T? isn't that popular in the UK?
Very popular, a bigger uptake than pay tv(Sky), but it as limitations, due to terrain(regional variants), so freesat will fill in the gap.For example I keep saying this I know, Wrexham is the largest Town in North Wales, but only 5% can recieve Welsh TV from the transmitter at Moel Y Parc, the remaining 95% can only get Winter Hill or the Wrekin, but as Wrexham is a Border town with Cheshire and Shropshire, not a lot of interest in Welsh TV from the majority, and most of the rest dont want to sub asnyhow.

pity most of the freeview boxes are utter rubbish, and the switch over has been dragged out so long so the signal strength is so poor in a lot of areas. and after switch over a lot of people will need yet another aerial because Ofcom don't understand that they should group the frequancys

You are right, but after switchover the power will be increased, and as for aerials, well this is a point used by cowboys,

The trouble is most boxes and IDTV's suffer from Electrical interference from other appliances causing the sound to drop for a split second. I cant see an increase in power from the transmitters will stop this.

I agree some do,so its really good wiring without cuts and splits, however put the wire next to thge boiler or kettle etc, yes it will pick up the inference if not doublke screened.

I had 3 boxes and an IDTV that picked up interference from just about anything in the house and the neighbours house. The box's were swapped for Sagem's but theirs not much I can do about the IDTV. I hate Freeview If freesat gets Dave, Virgin 1 E4 etc they will all be gone.

did they pick up the interference via the mains? or the aerial sockets?

the mains mostly. but also if a moped went past the house, some cars passing did the same. Also if the neighbour switched things on and off in his house the same thing would happen, the Sagems don't suffer from this problem at all. I tried connecting to the old aerial as thats on the chimney stack and not on the eves of the house and points at Sutton Coldfield so has a stronger signal but there was no improvement. I also find all freeview boxes exstreamly slow, compared to sat box's

Ok Ratty.

The problem appears with the lower end boxes,I have three Sonys, dont get a problem as such, but have noticed, where the Sony dig box lives in the room with a wood burner, when | open another door, it changes channels, but not interference. I also have a comag sat reciever, lower end, about the same channel swop speed as the sonys. Also when I put a tv in the same room as the boiler(oil) it effected the tv, could be a ring main, and this was non digital.

Nice chat

Bob
