I like watching the early stages of the World Cup competitions, but once all the minnows get knocked out I lose interest until the final.

Got it....Thxs Derek.

Sounds like life on the fringe could be fun soon.........for some dealers.

Like AS, I too could very well do without Sky. I don't give a toss about programmes like Lost or 24; don't care about their movies; won't pay for their football; couldn't be bothered by all the HD/Plasma/LCD hype.

If I wasn't into the sat hobby, BBC's Freesat will be enough for my personal need except for the little matter that now that Sky dominates, family considerations means one subscribes to the minimum Sky package one can get away with albeit with quite some loathing.

As for the hobby, the pure pleasure of pulling in channels from all manner of sats is the point - not even watching as such and not even the further benefits from patching etc.

merlodlliw,
You are a man after my own heart, I hate Sly and everything that it stands for. It is not worth having and only for my house mate, who likes the music channels, I would not have it in the house. I reckon that you might just need to employ a few minders, to keep the Sly hitmen at bay.

I can get all the footy I need from channels other than Sly's over priced and boring package, the load of sh*te that they talk before the games is very sore on my ears.

As for films, they are on before Sly on many of the channels on other sats, and the few I watch, have English Audio.

I can get nearly all the Discovery channels on 1W.

And if it is the dreaded Sex you are after, then that dross that Sly pump out, is rubbish compared to other sats.

I reckon that in the UK, the vast majority of people cannot get digital OTA and need to get it from satellite.

As a point of interest, I am now watching Prem footy, with English audio.

Bring it on I say, a lot of people will be very happy that they can get digital and will be very pleased with the picture quality.

Very best regards Wez

Thanks robbo,
That is what I was trying to say I suppose. Sly should be taken to the trades description act for the sh*te they put on, well what they used to about 10 years ago.

Very best regards Wez

I would not be surprised,I have had confirmation via e mail that Sky do not like knocking letters on sites they support, DS is one that gets supported by Sky.

So now im happy being "The Anti Sky 666" hay I must copywright that.
OK horses eat it,

In Sweden you have to pay to watch the government channels SVT1 and SVT2 from satellite.

So stupid, it would have been better if it was FTA like the BBC.

Good Afternoon Likvid.

When you say govt channels, do you mean the BBC of Sweden? if so
does that mean you pay a license for having a TV,then pay a sub to watch then from sat, if so looks like Murdoch has been consulted.

Beautiful day up here, wall to wall sunshine since dawn.
