Angry EMUs for 7025 LT image

Hi all,
Have managed to flash my new 7025 with the LT image, but can't figure how to get my EMUs into it, nor can I figure how to use my HDD to store and use the multiboot. Any help will be very much appreciated and very welcome.

Very best regards Wez

I'm afraid I've never tried the LT image, so I can't help you with that. But what are you using for multiboot? I've just discovered the Barry Allen plugin which I've found very effective for managing multiple images. It's recommended that you install Barry Allen on USB stick or CF, but it is possible to install it on the HDD and run it from there (on my first attempt at installing it, it didn't recognise my USB stick and so ended up on the HDD - so I can confirm that this does work, but accessing it is quicker if it's on USB).

Thanks davei,
I shall try that, do I just upload it with DCC or something like that? I tried the Gemini image today and could not put any EMUs into it either. What image are you using and how do you put the EMUs into it please? I might have the image you are using, because I downloaded a load of them when I was in the internet cafe, last week, so chances are I might have it.

Tanks again and best of luck Wez

Great news lads, got some EMUs on to my LT image and got all the usual channels clearing for me. Thanks davei for your help. I did try to download the BarryAllen plugin, but the site I was at the url reported as not found so I shall have to try somewhere else for it.

Very best regards Wez

You're obviously getting there now, kerrywez. I mainly use Gemini 2 3.20 and am able to download EMUs directly from the Gemini server - however, before I had the Dreambox permanently on the network I used to install EMUs by downloading the appropriate *.tar.gz on my PC and FTP-ing it over to /tmp and then installing from there (using an Addons manual install in the Gemini blue panel, or via a telnet session).

Barry Allen is available as an *.ipk file, which again can be installed from /tmp. If you Google 'Barry Allen 0.4.4' you should find a site from which you can download the current version (I'm not too sure about the etiquette of giving out a url here, otherwise I'd have pointed you to a particular site). It's a very useful plugin, as it can help you with the installation of other plugins as well as enabling you to manage your multiple images (I'm quite new to it myself, hence my enthusiasm at having discovered it - and besides, I couldn't get Multiboot 8.73 to work, that being the plugin of this type I tried).

Thumbs up Re: EMUs for 7025 LT image

Hi davei,
Many thanks again. The barryallen plugin is too big for me to download at my current dial up speed, it is 3.2Kbps, so I shall have to wait till i get into town and download it in the internet cafe, but I am getting satellite broadband in a few weeks so after that I should be able to download any large file.

I have not been able to set up a network that allows me to connect the box to the net either, I was not able to do it for the 500s either, so if it would not be too much trouble would you, please, let me know how you managed to get yours sorted. At the speed I have on this dial up it might not be too good for downloading anything to my box, but I suppose I could always get my keys updated and things like that. I just use a direct crossover cable, from my laptop to the box, and this laptop is running Vista, though I have a Toshiba that is running XP. I find that a lot of the drivers for things have still not been updated for Vista, my USB to serial adapter will not work on this laptop so I need to use the Toshiba for dream up.

Thanks again, your help is very much appreciated and welcome. There is a great difference from the 500s to the 7025, but with help, from people like you I shall get there in the end. Funny things is that I did spend 30 odd minutes yesterday flashing Gemini on to the box, but found that the old emus did not load for me, but that was befror I discovered that I needed the different emus for the 7025.

Very best regards Wez
