Ive been trying sipgate because they give you a free voip-in number..
Heres my setup: HandyTone 502 Sipgate for incoming calls Voipbuster for outgoing Now... No probs with voipbuster, Im always able to dial out. However, Sipgate seems a bit intermitant.. can sometimes recieve calls, but alot of the time the person trying to call in recieves the number busy/invalid number response etc.. Any help or advice would be a big help, thanks.... Also, does anyone know how to set my caller id to show my sipgate number when dialing out thru voipbuster??!!! ![]() ![]()

Is your ATA sending stay alive messages to your router, that is a common cause of the incoming calls not getting through.

Thanks Lincsat..
In my ATA config page, the only setting that mentions the keep alive instruction is: NAT Traversal (STUN): NO / NO BUT SEND KEEP ALIVE / YES. STUN SERVER : stun.sipgate.net:10000 I did have it set to YES and had the STUN Server set as above. (is this correct as Im using voipbuster for outgoing??) Just changed the setting to NO BUT SEND KEEP ALIVE. Still OK dialing out but number not online when calling it from my mobile?? |

Also!
Keep Alive Interval: currently set to 20 secs (default) Is this the correct setting or should I change it? Surely it needs to stay alive for ever?!! |

keep alive can be anything upto 120 secs, that's how often it sends the keep alive signal, so 20 secs is good. Try turning the STUN server on.
Have a look on the sipgate help pages, they have sample settings for many devices, if you are logged in the samples include your username and password as well.

I use Sipgate for both incoming & out going calls nowadays.
It is by far the the most reliable voip provider i have used. I have used all the rest, including Voipbuster & some of its sister companies, who's service, after a while slipped. I also had problems with cross calls with Voipbuster at one point! I can highly recommend Sipgate. Cheers, G. Last edited by goonster; 23-11-08 at 09:50 PM. |
