I'm currently using NTL and there 2MB service.
I use my connection to download 360 games, movies and other stuff and my machine is on most of the day downloading. I've noticed NTL have introduced speed caps and its became a pain, meaning I have to leave my machine on longer to get the things I want. I've recently been looking at getting a Flashed modem but I'm wondering how they work, I understand I need my MAC address and the config file and I can upgrade to a higher speed. Looking at the config files I've noticed you can reach 20Mb, although it says 2 IP's, can someone clear up what it means by this? and whether I can get this speed? Also, i'm presuming the firmware is stealthed so NTL can't trace it? Will I have to keep upgrading the firmware to stay on top of NTL updates? or will the modem block this and stop automatic firmware updates? Thanks for any help. |

Yes, but remember, if you are going to swap macs, not to do it here on the forums. NTL won't like that, and these threads are in public view.
