I am moving to the UK soon in a year and i want to ask what the best place to live in?
I have been 15-20 times in the UK but mostly in London which isn't so nice these days as it was. I am going to buy a place in the countryside and have about £300K to spend on a house which should be top modern, i might build my own house if i find a nice piece of property. I heard Manchester is the worst place to live in with high crime etc etc... Your suggestion? |

Actually rightmmove.co.uk is - at least, the biggest - but they don't have so much of the Scottish property. You'd need to look at a string of sites for a more comprehensive selection of these:
Buying Scottish Property Personally, I moved to Nairn, near Inverness - gorgeous scenery and great for the kids. Not much night life, though. Second choice would be Camden.

I would recommend either Devon, or in the Scottish highlands near Brian.
PS Brian, been to Nairn umpteen times. Is the Millfield hotel still on the go? |

Depends on what environment you are after
If you after London life your 300K might just be enough for a nice house on the outskirts (which isn`t London really) or a nice one bedroomer closer to central London. I personally would spend it better on the nice house outside of London but still within a reasonable traveling distance from London. For the retirement I would definitely choose south coast (or join the expats in spain )or the beautiful Scotland.

I guess Scotland is a bit too far away from the real market for me where financial expansion is going on.
I need to live on commute distance from London, maybe Bristol is nice to live in? |
