Default Is my Modem faulty

I bought a cable modem which has infinite firmware, the modem has the number 250 on the bottom. With the modem came some software called Ambit Config Tool 096 which I have used to change the mac address ( got someone a few miles away to get them ).
Trouble is the modem doesn't seem to even try to connect. The SYNC light lights up when it is powered up ( all the lights light up ) but then thats it, the ready light flashes a couple of times, the ENET light stays on but no SYNC.
Does it sound like the modem is faulty.
Thanks, GPick.

Try going to http://192.168.100.1 and having a look around there, that's the page for your modem. If you post the error log I'm sure some nice individual will help you out

My first guess would be that you're using the wrong TFTP address. Use DHCP force to search for your MAC address and it'll show you the TFTP address you need to use. Also, make sure you're filling in all of the details on the configurator, instructions are in the haynes manual...

Ran DHCP Force.
TFTP Server IP is 0.0.0.0
Don't think that will be right.
According to instructions that came with the modem the TFTP for my area ( Blackburn ) is 62.252.192.20.
I've entered everything else that the instructions tell my to enter.
Here's the instructions -
Now that you have the ambit you will need to connect it via Ethernet cable to your network card & power up the modem, now open up the ambit tool to input your settings.

Modem Ambit 250
Area Please specify which area you will be running the modem, choose from NTL PURE, - TELEWEST or EX CABLE & WIRELESS
Firmware Infinitie
Connect Network

NEXT VERY IMPORTANT FOR ADDED SECURITY THE USERNAME & PASSWORDS HAVE BEEN CHANGED SO MAKE SURE YOU USE THESE:
USERNAME XXXXXXX
PASSWORD XXXXXXX

Next input your mac address in the section that says MODEM MAC ADDRESS
Leave the USB NIC MAC ADDRESS AS IT IS (No change necessary here)
Next input your TFTP server ip, here is a list use the appropriate one for your area:

Basildon - TW - 195.188.52.61 & 195.188.52.62
Belfast - 62.254.32.20
Blackburn - Ex C&W - 62.252.192.20

Next input your TFTP filename from the dropdown menu, (the config filename determines the speed of the connection, so find out which on will give you 20 meg if required for your area.
When you have done all this click on the APPLY button, and that should be it, happy surfing.
EDUCATE YOURSELF
If you need further help visit one of these forums there’s always someone willing to help.
or have a good read of the Haynes Manual included on the disk.
Shouldn't the SYNC light flash anyway even if theres no cable my legit modem still flashes as it tries to connect?

Thanks for taking the time to help, it is much appreciated.
GPick.
