System - Appollo by Pace reciever and the original dish and lnb from the anologue days of 19.2 e.
The dish has never been moved since installed, ive only re routed the cable and reciever from upstairs to downstairs Yesterday (not touched the end by the lnb). Problem - I have black dashes goin across the screen they look like little tadpoles and the blue screen saying no signal keeps poping up every now and again ,Could this be the wind from yesterday moving the lnb arm. ![]() I only watch international eurosport on the system. Any help would be appreciated Last edited by Physcogem; 01-02-08 at 10:24 AM. |

the wind could of moved the dish the way its been hitting my 1.1 triax im surprised it still on the pole let alone still working
you say you moved the cable though did it work before it was moved and after ? The golden rule of making changes are test before you make them? That way you know if it dose not work after then its the change that coursed them

Yes it did work before i moved it but had the little black marks (tadpoles) before, i thought this was due to the fact that i had extended the cable to reach the reciever with a bit of Virgin media cable. The tadpole marks they move side to side sometimes only a small amount then sometimes more . I have two recievers and get similiar results with both. as you say the wind could be blowing the lnb arm which would give me the NO SIGNAL display. Correct ? but what are the black tadpoles which i need to add are sometimes white depending on what picture is showing
Do you think it could be alignment or conection probs at lnb end or reciver end. Thanks |

The teadpoles are known as "sparklies" Its quite possible the lnb is on the way out as well as the alignment being suspect.

Hi, To be bluntly honest with you, there is not that much up there in Analogue any more so it would be a bit of a waste of your money. Your dish will be OK, but if you are after BBC, ITV and that, you will not get them with your setup as it is.
I would say that you wold be much better advised to get a universal LNB, they can be had for £10 or so, and a cheap FTA receiver. With that setup you wil be able to receive far more channels. As you know al analogue signals will be phased out in the UK very soon and there is no difference in the world satellite providers, they are all going to be digital very soon also. If you like to buy a cheap free to air receiver and the universal LNB you can have a basic setup, and if after a while you can go for a more refined box, like a Dreambox or one of the Technomate boxes, with which you can do, in the case of the Dreambox, just about anything. All in all I would advise you to consider buying a cheap FTA receiver and a uinerversal LNB. Very best regards Wez
