Question LNB - What works with What?

OK since you guys answered back SOOO fast last time I felt it was only right to post YET another question.

I have read through as many Beginners "stickys" as I can but can't find a definitive answer.... so here goes.

I have NOTHING set up yet but as is my normal stlye I like to go in well un-informed and way over my head sooo...

Instead of buying a normal SINGLE Universal LNB I thought I would go for a Monoblock BUT I need to know I understand this correctly.

I am going to purchase a Technomate TM-1500CI+ and wanted to know if this would support something like Universal Monoblock LNB 0,2 dB.

I have figured out that a Twin LNB is for 2 recievers but how does a MONOBLOCK work when there is only 1 receiver (even though I realise there is only 1 output so that part I got) . Or should I say.. will it work.

Also I can't seem to understand what is the best DB to have.. I imagine higher is better as you guys recommend a MTI Blue Line 0.3db single-output universal LNB when starting out but what difference will I experience with only a 0.2dB LNB.

Cheers and again I hope this is as clear as MUD....

Why go for a 1500? as this has now been superseeded by the 5400 and will have better features on it, however the 1500 is still a good machine but don't spend any more than £50 for one. Now back to your question, yes this receiver will support a monoblock, the switching is done in the LNB by instructions from the receiver so when you want to watch a channel on Astra and you are on Hotbird it will know to change to the Astra part of the LNB. The lower the noise figure the better so a 0.2db is better than a 0.3db but I doubt you will see any difference.

Hi kirban,
Why not go the whole hog and get a rotor and you wil be free to go to any sat that takes your fancy, within the confines of the viewable arc from here. It is a simple enough task to do and as I said you have the benefit of being able to view many more satellites than you could ever manage with the monoblock, two being all that is a reality.

Sorry for the delay, but I was out taking photos of the mountains with their snow covering.

Very best regards Wez
