Default easy one for techhead

hi folks,got a small prob i hope someone can help with long story short i got a ddh/recorder done away with old video,only used it for rf out with old d box,got starview now,heres the prob,when i switch starview off i lose most channels on dtv,they come back when i switch starview on again checked all connections over and over cant find what im doing wrong,gratefull for any help or suggestions.....
