Default Where do I put the skin ipk files

Hi All,
Getting a bit used to the 7025 now, but still cannot find where to put the ipk skin files, when I ftp them to the box using DCC. I cannot get a network to connect to the net so I downloaded the ipk files and now would like to know where to put them. I did try to put them in the temp folder, as I did with the EMU ipk files, but even though it says that they have been added they do not appear when I go to change the skin.

I am using the latest LT image.

thanks for any help that I might get.

Very best regards Wez

Bit puzzled by this, because, as you say yourself, the *.ipk files should go in tmp. I don't really know my way round the LT image - though I have had a look at it recently (and quite like it, incidentally) - but there's a manual addon option in one of the menus (in addition to Enigma addon and LT addon) and I *think* (I'm not able to check right at the moment) you should then get into another menu that asks you if you want to install a *.tar.gz or *.ipk file (from tmp). If this is what you're trying to do and it's not working, then I'm afraid I'm stumped.

One possible alternative approach would be to try installing your *.ipk via telnet. Excuse me if I'm telling you what you know already, but you would do this by starting a telnet session on your PC, logging into your Dreambox, then typing 'cp' followed by Enter, then typing whatever the path is to the *.ipk file ( '/tmp/*.ipk', I think), followed by Enter again - and that should be it.

Hi Davei,
Many thanks for your reply, I am not near the box just now but I shall try that. I am used to the Gemini Image, on the 500s, but there is a wee bit more to this Enigma 2 that there was to the 1 version. You were not telling me anything I knew and even if you were then there would be no harm in it.

What Image are you using? I used to use the Pli Image too and very much liked them. I have got all the Images for the Enigma 2 downloaded and just need to get the multiboot going, I need to download the barryallen thingy, but it is way too big for me with this dial up at 3.2 Kbps top speed, so I am going to wait till I get my satellite broadand installed, in the next week or so. I might also go into to town and d/l it in the internet cafe, that is how I got the images downloaded. Did you get your multiboot sorted davei?

Many thanks, again, and best of luck.

Very best regards Wez

Hi kerrywez

I've had my 7025 for a year now, and apart from an old Sky box I've never had any other sat receiver. The 7025 certainly required a bit of a steep learning curve - so you've had a little bit of head start with your 500.

I'm very new to multiboot - until recently I've only bothered with whatever the latest Gemini 2 image is (and I still tend to prefer Gemini, which I continue to have installed in flash). At the moment I've also got LT and PLi on the USB stick, both of which I think are pretty good. I've also tried OoZoon and Boxman, but haven't given them a fair test yet as I was having some trouble with the USB stick. I've now reformatted the stick and haven't yet got round to reinstalling OoZoon and Boxman. (For some reason my USB stick only works properly when plugged in via a USB hub, not when plugged directly into the Dreambox.)

Hi Davei,
Many thanks for your reply. It would seem that there a not that many on here who have a 7025.

I have now flashed the box with the Gemini image and, though I only did it late last night, I think that it and me will become very good friends. I could not, however, install the Cccam and Mgcamd ipk files to the box and had to revert to the tar.gz files and got the Cccam installed, which is OK for now. As I said I only got the image flashed late on and have not had a very good chance to have a good look at it, but one thing that did please me was that there were all the skins with the image.

It is funny, but I have just read another user from another forum stating that he removed the LT image from his box, because it was freezing . Whilst I did not have that problem, I was very annoyed by the cogs coming up on the screen all the time and could find no way to stop it.

I could not get a settings file to load to the box either and I did not have any bother with the LT image, which is a bit of a surprise.

My only problem would be that I have never been able to get the box to connect to the net, through my network. I have Vista on this laptop, a Sony Vaio, but I do have another laptop, a Toshiba, and it has XP on it. I got advice about setting up the network using XP and even did a clean reinstall of XP on that laptop, I needed to anyway, because I had installed a copy of Linux and it kept booting to the Linux, if I were not watching it and moving the cursor to the XP to boot, and set up the network anew, but all to no avail. Perhaps I shall be able to get something to work with the Satellite Broadband, when I get it set up.

Many thanks again and best wishes Wez

Hi Mate, You really do need to connect to the network, I will try and help you if you wish, First of all you need to tell me how you are trying to connect to the web ie do you have a Hub, Is it DHCP activated, Does it have a firewall installed in the Hub. then if it has a firewall in the hub it needs to allow the 7025 through it, The rest ie connecting the computer to the unit is a doddle but the above questions need answering.

Hi Les,
Many thanks for your reply, I have managed to get the skins into the box, but I am using the gemini image now, rather than the LT image.

I shall try and answer you questions as best as I can.

I have only for a very, very slow dial up, 3.2Kbps at best. I have connected the box to the laptop using a direct crossover cable. I did a clean install of XP on my other laptop and set up a network and gave the dreambox a share with my laptop.

I used 192.168.024 for the dreambox
I used 192.168.0.1 for the laptop

I do not have the two connected through a hub.

DHCP has not been activated, as you can tell from the addresses I have given you above.

I was hoping to have satellite broadband install by now, but they took money for an install I told them i did not want. Now I cannot get them on the phone nor will they answer my mails. I have my credit card company chasing them up. But I cannot see me getting broadband in the next 50 years in this GOD FORSAKEN COUNTRY, they just don't give a monkeys about anyone here. What I am trying to say is that I do not think that my dial up connection speed is not up to the task.

Any help that you can give me will be very welcome and appreciated.

I suppose that it would do no harm to ask you another question whilst I have your attention, as it were. I have installed BarryAllen on my HDD and tried to put my images into it, but to no avail. Do I need to put the images onto a USB stick and then run them from there? Also I need to know if I need to have the CVS Image installed in the box for the BarryAllen to work properly, I think that it has the drivers for the BarryAllen, I think I read somewhere?

Very best regards and thanks again Wez

Many thanks NadSad,
I shall install the OOxoon image when I get the chance. I thought that was the way things went, was not sure what image it needed to be though, but as I have the gemini image installed, there was not way it was going to work. I do have the images in the MB-images directory, but as I say there was no way to access them, because I had the gemini images in flash.

Many thanks again and very best of luck Wez

Hi Wez, To be honest I dont like the oozoon image I actually like the new image by the Enigma team it is the E2-board image, with this image many of the extras are preinstalled and the extras I think are brilliant, It is a large file so you may have a problem with such a slow D/l speed, I think the setup you are using (The crossover) certainly has limitations and so I think you are at max speed, I have tried all the images as I was having a particular problem, I have a Nova card (In Greece) and also Astra 2 whenever I changed channels the Nova card locked even in a proper cam, I could not leave it to record as this problem continued with no difference on any image I used, then this E-Board one came out last week and I have not had ANY problem since it even auto updates the keys, Fantastic, I think it is worth a look for you below is a list of functions : -
E²Board Image v1.2

Enigma2: 06.02.2008
Openembedded: 1.5
Enigma2 Plugins: 06.02.2008
Web Interface: 06.02.2008
