Default Confused by firmware

Hi all,

I have just bought an SL65/12 from Fleabay, don't know what chip is
installed at the moment as it won't arrive until later next week. My main
intention is for this kit to be used on holiday (Boating) but I would like to
use it at home as well, preferably on a motorized system.

Having read many posts on this receiver I am confused by the differnt
firmware that is available. Can someone tell me which is the best at the
moment and the easieast to flash.

Will the receiver be able to drive a disqeqc motor such as the
motek sg2100.

Regards
Fred

Hi Fred

I would go to satboard dot uk dot to and have a good read of the Comag SL65 forum there. You will find a sticky with all the intructions required to identify your chip, and another sticky with the files that you need to update your box to Truman 1.3.84 firmware if it's a B1. Peronally I prefer Smart FW but that can be a bit involved. Truman will do you fine for starters.

I don't have a motor, so perhaps someone else could comment on it's suitability for that? There's yet another sticky on satboard that has instructions on getting the most out of a motorised SL65 system.

Good luck!

Yes. You have the option use DiSEqC 1.2 or you can enter lon. and lat. and select Usals. Both work fine with original firmware or Truman.

Hi Solunauk and Yorks,

Thanks for the information on the SL65/12. I thought the Truman was the
firmware of choice but on the Maiden site there is mention of others. Ok
on the Motor capability, just have to get the kit now.
Thanks again
regards
