I've got a sky mini dish installed and a standard sky reciever.
I haven't got any subscriptions. What can I buy (receiver or CAM/cards) that will allow me to watch new channels? Will I have to change the direction of my dish? Thanks ![]() what can these boxes from ebay receive? e.g. Technomate TMS-1500ci+ Digital Satellite ReceiverMulticrypt Card slot, Cam slot and patchable makes it a great receiver!! limited stock buy now patched with latest softcam also loaded free RS-232 cable also supplied Last edited by monkian : 04-02-08 at 10:20 PM. |

To make any proper use of that receiver, yes you would need to point your dish elsewhere. Although left where it is, it will pick up all the free channels that the Sky box can.
Really though, one satellite is not enough, you need to be able to point it at a few diferent ones, like 1W,13e,19.2e for example. There are channels on those satellites that your the TM1500 would be able to decode at the moment. A motorised dish is the best option. Or at least a monoblock LNB for 13E and 19E. The sky dish will work on 13E and 19.2E, if it doesn't rain too hard, but a larger say 80cm to 1m dish is a much better option. I have found that the 90cm Fortec Star that Maplin do, is not too bad a dish for its price. As for the tM1500, I hope it is cheap as it really has been supceded by the TM5400CI+, it is about £90.
