Hi,
just wondered how many of you are using really old dishes/squarials still? I'm happy to say that I'm still using my Fuba 55cm fibreglass dish that came with my ITT-Nokia Sat1100 receiver from 1989 (also sold under Salora brand name) - this was a 48 channel 'Astra' remote receiver with true Panda stereo noise reduction and 2 LNB inputs... cost £430 back then. The original tubed shape (like a toilet roll) LNB packed up ages ago and it was only the 'standard' single band non enhanced that did Astra 1a-1c.... luckily it has the C120 flange so I stuck on a modern MTI cheapy and use it on 13' east FTA. http://www.orbitalzone.com/images/im...ohere/dish.jpg here's the dish in question. I also had a very very rare Revox horn antenna, a bulky, heavy 'dish' that had a fresnel lens and LNB at the rear looking direct to the satellite. Sadly I got rid of it after it got flooded in 2000... I had used it on Telecom 5w for some time, it was originally supplied with a Revox Astra receiver.... Anyone else remember these rare things?

Our Sky dish is currently a 60cm circular Sky analogue dish from the early 1990's (Modern universal lnb fitted of course) The legend "Rugeley Aerials" is still just about legible on it, dating from its previous life down in the Midlands
Its soon to be replaced with a Fraccaro Penta, and the old dish will be assimilated into the dish farm in the garden.

When I think of the 3 old sky dishes I had (2 60cm and 1 80cm with multiple LNB bracket ) I consigned to the tip about 5 years ago I could cry.

Channel Master dishes like the 120cm are like over 20 year old, the Fibostöp dishes are like from the early 1990's.
Best dish design are from the 80's and early90's. |

Im not sure what molds they use but some dishes have Andrew on the back and others are made in different factories, I have a CM from 1985 which was given to me a few years back and on the original sales invoice it has April 1985 on it and there is nothing wrong with the dish signal quality is the same as my 10 month old 1.2m Andrew

I have a 10foot not in use at present. However may use it to convert over to satellite internet (if all gos well). Did use it in Arizona (USA) desert, and dis assembled,(yup, 47 pieces) brought to TX. It worked well but after period of time, power supply(2nd time) went out on Houston Tracker 10 IRD. Do not know enough about power supplies to rebuild unit. Dish has been left to ruin for several years, but may bring back to life.
