Fibrecoax is tricky for a novice, hackware is much easier. Are you sure you are in the same UBR and just not offline because you entered it incorrectly?
If you used your M8's MAC your modem should connect if his modem is temporarily offline.

i tried it wiv him offline aswell, but it dont work, and as i only susbcribe to the phone and tv i aint got a subbed mac to try it wiv, was kinda hoping someone in peterborough online would sniff a mac just for me to try until i can get online, but i fink that is kinda rare as i have had no luck for ages now
![]() i have tried to put the favourite freq in for the area and changed the mac and been told as its fibercoax as long as the config is ok it will work, but i just get a recieving led keep flashing only. any chance a mac from a diff regiona in cambridgeshire working, if i try and make post for it? |

If it doesn't work with his MAC and him offline, it ain't going to work with a MAC from a different area.
You either have the wrong modem, don't have the MAC entered properly or are in an area with active counter-measures. If you are ex C&W, you need an "E" type modem, otherwise you need an "I" type. I really can't remember the codes for Fibreware to change MAC's, if you can get Hackware on it, then do that.
