Default news feeds ?

right here we go ! here is a question! i have just signed up for sky with the standard box. Are there any news feeds available on this satellite ? (news feeds are pre-broadcast feeds that sky and bbc news use. or have they moved to hotbird ? digital. another question would i be right in thinking the sky box cannot be used(due to the fact it needs a card to work, with another satellite dish ie the same sized dish used for astra but pointing offcourse towards hotbird ! okay perhaps it was a stupid question to ask. the reason why i ask is that i hope to have a spare dish available to point towards the hotbird satellite.

Occasionally - but not on the limited symbol rates available to the crippled sky sluggibox.

I can remember one in the last 5 years that was available to sluggiboxes and which lasted about a fortnight.

If you want to start playing with other satellites treat yourself to a non sky digital receiver. - You should be able to pick a decent one up for under 100 beer tokens.

Hi Flash, I am not too sure if I am understanding you correctly I think you are asking if you can fit another dish up to get Hotbird and connect it to your sky box to get other channels other than the Sky ones, If that is correct I am not sure what the actual Sky box will receive other than Sky channels, (I do not know of any) BUT another suggestion is this if you are wanting to get both Astra 2 (Sky UK) and Hotbird using two seperate Dishes I have a solution, My Friend has that setup he has 1 dish pointing at Astra 2 28.5 and another at hotbird 13.0 he uses a Dreambox 7025 with twin tuners and he just selects which channel he wants on either sat he can even record of either sat at the same time or record one and watch other, Before he got the 7025 he had two seperate STB's connected together somehow but he used to get problems with it that way, I dont know what the probs were but I know he got them.
By the way you can get rss news feeds on the dreambox

thank yu les for the reply. think my best option is to have a seperate dish rather than twin LNBs because of the size of the 42 cm dish.with my 80cm annolgue system did have twin feed LNBs . i have already a dish here but hopefully i can add another dish that sky are kindly installing on monday but we will see.

Hi Flash, I think you may have missunderstood me, The 7025 STB has Twin Tuners so that you can connect two seperate sat dishes to one STB and not have to use disecq wich deteriorates the signal.

I forgot to mention mate that with a Dreambox using ccam you can also use the sly card and watch all the channels you subscribe to, so you would therefore only need 1 box to get all the Sly Channels as well as the decoded ones on Hotbird

Not at All mate, If you look at my signature you will see my main box is a Humax 5400 which is a fantastic box, It was just that you were talking about two sat dishes and wanting Hotbird and as my mate has similar or same set up I thought I would let you know, Nothing More Nothing Less, Just Trying to Help
