Default Waiting for freesat but.......

Will the new freesat boxes be able to be modified / patched as to be able to get the extra illegal channels. Hopefully i will be having a motorised dish.

The receiver is probably designed to only work with one satellite (28E), i.e no Diseqc or motor. So patches would be pointless.

I'm only speculating here, hopefully someone who has tested one will confirm

Chances are they wont even have disecq fitted!

However we have to wait for the first ones to be released to see the specs of them.

But I guarantee there will be no way whatsoever to get Sky UK illegally on them

As we know they will operate with some sort of epg not dissimilar to the sky epg, the boxes may well be effectively crippled when used anywhere apart from on 28E - just like the Sky UK boxes are a pita to use anywhere else.

Hi Lads,
Anyone know if these boxes will be HD or not? I only ask because what would be the point of them not being, if BBC, ITV and Ch4 HD channels are to be broadcast on freeview?

Very best regards Wez

From what I understand the basic boxes will not be HD. That will be an extra cost option.

Well in that respect they are or have learned a lot from good old Rupert and next thing you know they will be charging for HD. I suppose that it is not that far out, as we all have to pay more for HD boxes.

Very best regards Wez

There's little doubt you will have to pay more for HD boxes as they will cost more to produce, just the same if they produce a PVR, it will be more expensive than the basic box.

Both freesat receiver i am testing at the moment will only work on 28.2 east, On the HD pvr after you have set it up and say you unplug it when you plug it in it looks for the default transponder as the HD PVR downloads its 14 day epg to its hard drive also on the freesat receiver the EPG /GUI is in HD and makes skys epg look like a joke
