Hi,
First post so be gentle!! Got a eurovox 2008 max v with 29 Oct firmware but every channel is chirpy/pixellating. Have tried the usual (removed splitter, direct input from Virgin line) but still have problems on every channel. Have noticed things get worse when browsing the web wirelessly on my laptop. Surely they're not supposed to be that sensitive? Could it be a weak receiver/tuner in the eurovox? Signal quality is steady at 83% when I stop browsing. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. Cheers |

Thanks for the reply. While I was waiting I fired up the Xbox and as it tried to log into live the tv picture went?! So bizarre.
Anyway, back on point...I just put it straight onto the line for the broadband connection - no splitter - and did a factory reset then new powerscan and it's still the same chirpy/pixellating signal. I really want this to work but I'm struggling here The VM box is fine on the feed I'm using.Anymore ideas to try? |

A little more information....
Just popped in next door and asked them to browse the web on there wireless setup (they get broadband through adsl not VM/NTL) and sure as a sure thing my picture broke up! Does this give anyone any clues that might spark something lurking deep in the back of your mind? If I can't solve it I guess I'll have to send the box back as it's useless. |

Only thing I can think about is the proximity of the Eurovox to the computer equipment they do not get on obviously for some reason, never seen any posts about this before, hope someone else posts in about it,I cant see that the Eurovox is faulty especially as you say it works ok if you are not on the computer or Xbox ? does it? despite the fact that your VM box is working fine your signal could be just borderline anyway and am wondering if a signal booster such as sold by Argos or on Ebay might help things .....

Hi again,
The box hasn't been perfect, I get about 83% signal according the the Eurovox software (I assume that's pretty good?) and it never fluctuates however I've always had chirping from the beginning but I'm starting to believe this is the broadcast of SSID's in the within the area because it's a perfect picture then pixellating and chirping then back to perfect. If I turn off my wireless router things get better but I can't get next door to do the same (funny that )The fact that others haven't had a problem makes me think that it's a problem with this example of the box because I can't be the only person in the u with a wireless router surely? Anyway, I'll borrow a booster from my mate and see if that makes a difference but its not looking good so far ![]() |

try taking the box round to someone you know who also has a cable connection and see if its ok round there... if you get the same problem then its probably a weak tuner in the box.

No your not the only one of course
just that personally Ive not seen the problem mentioned before...it could well be a faulty tuner of course and only substituting a known good box would prove that.....83 % is excellent its what I get, lots of people who post seem to have about the same signal (not sure how accurate the one on the screen is though) will be interested to know the result after adding a booster, who knows hopefully it might just work take it you have added all the latest updates to the box,if I remember rightly an improved tuner was in one of them ...Kuro image release date 15/10/2007 in fact added new drivers for tuner which improves performance, better scan/lock results Last edited by telecom69; 16-02-08 at 11:20 AM. What I'll do is pop it round my parents who have cable and check it there. They don't have any splitters or anything just a feed from the wall to the box.
Mine is running the 29 Oct firmware...is this considered to be solid? Or is the 15 Oct a more stable build? Thanks everyone for your help, I'm on the case and will post back tomorrow with the results. |

Hello there. A little while ago I was getting the same chirpy pictures at around 85%. Solved it by getting an aerial attenuator from ebay. You can get them from maplin 6db and 12 db for £4.99 each but I'd recommend getting a variable attenuator from ebay (I got one for £8 with a variable rate of 6db to 25db). That way you can adjust the attenuation to suit. Hopefully that should solve your chirpy picture problem
