Default which HD satellite reciever

i am thinking of signing up for the HD service from sky/freesat soon. the price of the sky HD box is £199 can i do better for the money ? or cheaper ! basically i want a fairly basic reciever but have the option if possibleof useing the HD reciever for another satellite (fixed) say Hotbird satellite especially for the free to view/access service in the future.

That's a good price for the SkyHD box, the normal retail price is £299 and the only offers we know of give you £50 off when taking Multi-room or Broadband/Sky Talk.

You will usually need a SkyHD box to get SkyHD and the SkyHD box is next to useless on other satellites.

that much ! not worth it. being a new customer think they offered me £199 ? then again i will wait until a cheaper one comes. thats too much to pay. the sky plus box is ok but again too much money.

Have a read on avforums, new skyhd customers £99.
Theres a few threads on there.

Sky have promised the inde's that they won't undercut them any more - I don't believe them

the only way Murdoch can complete with the inde s is to give the HD away at £199 and a hard drive built in plus free fitting . can i have one please mr murdoch.
