Welcome Poz, if you just want the channels that are available on your local cable system then go for the Eurovox. If you want to receive a lot more channels from all round Europe and the Middle East then go for the Dreambox.

If you have the money available then go for a Dreambox 7025 and have a sat tuner and a cable tuner in the same box.

Just remember that UK Sky satellite is NOT hacked - you will not get Sky satellite TV without access to a valid smartcard.

You can use a Eurovox or Dreambox on UK cable, the dreambox is more advanced but the Eurovox is easier to use and setup/upgrade.

My husband is thinking of going for a satalite box with a motorised dish to put up in France.
What sort of chanels will we get(if any) without having a smart card?
Is this possible?

Thanx for getting back to us but we are still no wiser were to go with this ? Sorry for all the questions but as you can guess we are new to all this We have come up with the idea of two motorised dishes, one here and one in france with one receiver which we can take with us and bring back.
What sort of receiver would you recomend and do these receivers come with user manual, instructions etc ?

Hi, have a look on flysat.com, this will give you an idea of the free to air channles you might be able to receive.

FlySat FTA TV Channels

You should be able to get satellites up to 45 degrees either side of south.

I would recommend one of the Technomate satellite receivers such as a TM540CI+, for ease of use.
Yes, instructions are included, the motor will have instructions too.

The Technomate receiver would be quite easy to use at both locations, just tell it your location and it should drive a USALS motor correctly at both locations. They are cheap enough now, you may consider getting 2 so you don't have the hassle.
