no. you basically melt solder all over all legs and pads and then heat the solder as one complete mass. if you check that tsop removal video, your doing that but with just the 8 pins and not 48!
do not attempt to remove the chip unless you have... 1, solder 2 a decent iron 3, solder wick 4, a flux pen as you heat up the blob of solder at each side, gently lift with a pin a tiny ammount. then repeat at other side, and so on and so on. you'll be left with a chip stuck to all the pads with a 'trail' of solder. you then desolder it with the wick and flux. apply the flux to the wick and the wick just soaks up molten solder

Been reading this thread with some interest, my V+ box would also not update via a fun or atmega card using NetID V2 Final, i programmed it with a dynamite programmer, and also tried doing each part individually .. ( flash, inteep, expeep ) also tried all sorts of combinations of flashing these, also tried reversed ird, must have spent 3 or 4 hours, and nothing worked... just showed the card revision and credit limit every time in eng menu. Left it for 10 mins each time. Had nothing to do with the hdd either. I too was doubting that my boxkey/ird was correct.
Also, the force update does not work on old TW areas. The only way was to remove and dump the chip, then use a program called TVDrive Tool.exe to modify your chip dump with your new Netid, then write it back to the chip, after that all was good. Also, the best way to remove the chip is by using a heat gun, and some tweezers, NOT a soldering iron. Last edited by twilight; 05-06-09 at 01:55 AM. |

The way i do mine is using NetID v2.1.7.2
1.write net id card in this order exteep, inteep, flash then rewite the inteep a couple of times 2.Boot into engineers menu and set the frequency and pin 3.reboot box into engineer menu again 4.go to page 2 and insert your net id card 5.Press the reset button on front of box, remove card and let it boot back to engineers menu 6.On page 2 insert the net id card and the box SHOULD reboot and take the new id This works for me in excw, ive tried all ways and this has worked now on 3 boxes

so yeah i agree, if you lack experience or confidence in using a heat gun without melting the entire pcb then a 15 quid amtex is the novices way out.

I am not new to this scene, just this forum. I was a long standing member of modshack, transponder and many old school cable forums.
I'm 36, not that it matters, you also state you aren't going to respond? yet you did? and i just love the fact your only responce is to try to insult my age? I assume members on this forum judge people by post counts? if you don't agree with me, fine, there is no need for personal attacks, and i lol at the moderator who joined in, is that a representation of this whole website? -respect But yeah real pro's use 15 quid soldering irons from maplins? oh and btw, its spelled furnace.
